Project Highlights:

  • Construction begins September 22 and will last approximately 90 days.
  • The Dwares JCC parking lot and rear building entrance will be closed during the project.

  • Additional accessible parking spaces will be available in front of the building.
  • The mikveh will remain open throughout construction.

Beginning September 22, the Dwares JCC parking lot and the entire rear portion of the building will be closed as we begin a major water mitigation and infrastructure improvement project.

This project is an investment in our community's future. It is designed to help protect our building from flooding and water-related damage by addressing aging infrastructure and preparing our facility for increasingly frequent severe weather events. This will help ensure the safety of our members, guests, and staff while allowing our operations to remain uninterrupted during future weather extremes. 

As part of this effort, the parking lot and courtyard will be redesigned to improve rainwater management and absorption. By increasing green space and reducing stormwater runoff, these improvements can help lessen flooding impacts, improve environmental sustainability, and create a more resilient JCC for years to come.

While construction will create temporary inconveniences, the long-term benefits will help safeguard our facility and strengthen our ability to serve the community.

Planning for Accessibility and Convenience

We recognize that the project will affect parking and traffic flow, and we are committed to minimizing disruptions through several accommodations.

  • Access to the Brown University Stadium parking lot, located across the street, will be available for members and guests most Mondays - Fridays from 6:00am - 8:00pm throughout the water mitigation project.   • Additional accessible parking spaces in front of the building. Please reserve these spaces for individuals with mobility or accessibility needs.
  • A safe and convenient drop-off and pick-up plan for Early Childhood Center families.

Please note: The mikveh will be available during construction. We will share more information about how to safely access it in a future update.
