Community Relations Council

Focus and Mission

The Community Relations Council (CRC) is a central component of the work of the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island. It is a catalyst to heighten community awareness, inspire civic and social justice engagement, encourage deliberation on key issues of importance to the Jewish community, and build meaningful partnerships with key stakeholders, such as elected officials, civic leaders and faith communities.

Social Justice

We work for justice by advocating for public policies that promote equity, center directly impacted groups, and help advance the priorities of our coalition partners. We also support meaningful service project around the community. The primary focus areas for this work include:

Antisemitism and Anti-Hate

The Jewish community has witnessed an alarming rise in antisemitic activity in our state the past few years. The Jewish Alliance and CRC are committed to finding creative, impactful ways to address this rise, and also ensure the safety of all members of our community. We focus this work through:

Government & Group Relations

At the CRC we build coalitions between the Jewish community and other faith and traditionally-marginalized groups in Rhode Island. We know that the security and well-being of the Jewish community are linked with the health and safety of all groups in our state.

Additionally, we work with government officials at the federal, state, and local levels to raise awareness of the Jewish community’s priorities and goals.

Israel Dialogue

The CRC is committed to fostering meaningful and respectful community conversation around Israel, as well as providing educational opportunities for civic and elected leaders on the dynamics of the US Israel relationship.

Become an advocate for a stronger community and a better world.
