How can a gift of just $1,000 have a meaningful and long-term impact on Jewish communities in Rhode Island and Israel?
This powerful effect comes from collective investment with Women’s Alliance Endowment Fund (WAEF) of the Jewish Federation Foundation. The fund has grown significantly since its 1993 inception with more than 130 membership contributions of $1,000 each. Every WAEF member has a voice in the annual grant program that supports educational, health, cultural, and social services and programs.

Since 1997, the WAEF has distributed more than $165,700 in grants to a variety of organizations in Rhode Island and overseas. In 2026, allocations totaling $11,700 were awarded to the following programs:
Local:
- Camp JORI -- $1,000 for camp scholarships for refugee girls
- Chabad of Northern RI -- $250 for a women's event
- Chabad of Southern RI -- $250 for monthly family shabbat and holiday dinners
- Community Beit Midrash of RI -- $500 for quarterly intergenerational learning
- Congregation Sha'arei Tefilla -- $250 for a Women’s Day of Connection
- Hattie Ide Chaffee Home -- $1,200 for Jewish programming for residents/community
- Jewish Community Day School -- $750 for Social-Emotional Learning lunch bunches
- Sandra Bornstein Holocaust Education Center -- $1,000 for honoring and engaging with Russian Jewish Holocaust survivors
- Temple Emanu-El -- $500 for Women’s History Month speaker series
Israel:
- Beit Ruth for Young Women & Girls At Risk -- $1,000 for “Promoting Physical and Emotional Health for At-Risk Girls Through Sports” in Afula-Gilboa
- Emunah -- $1,200 for DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) training at Afula-Gilboa facility
- Ethiopian National Project -- $1,000 for leadership program for girls in Afula-Gilboa
- Feuerstein Institute -- $500 for academic integration of Ultra-Orthodox women in nursing school
- The Jerusalem Hills Therapeutic Centers -- $250 for “Healthy Eating and Body Awareness Education” for at-risk girls
- Leket Israel -- $250 for providing produce for women in Afula-Gilboa
- Ruca's Farm -- $900 for support for partners of veterans with PTSD
- ZAKA -- $900 for support for families of ZAKA volunteers in Afula-Gilboa
Request for Proposals
The WAEF welcomes grant proposals every spring from Jewish organizations and synagogues in Rhode Island, southeastern Massachusetts, and Israel whose missions fall within the purview of the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island.
