Dear Friends,
While we are disappointed that Question 7 passed, we are profoundly grateful to everyone who stood with us over the past several months.
Our effort was not simply about the outcome of a ballot question. It was part of a broader effort to educate our neighbors, civic leaders, and elected officials about the lived experiences of many Jews in this moment, to ensure that concerns about rising antisemitism were taken seriously, and to raise awareness about the impact of the global BDS movement here at home.
Too often, public debates can force false choices, pitting communities against one another and treating our concerns as political talking points instead of opportunities for understanding. Throughout this campaign, we sought to model a different approach: one rooted in dialogue, respect, and the belief that the safety and dignity of every community are interconnected.
To every volunteer, supporter, partner, and community member who participated in these conversations, thank you. Your efforts made a difference. By sharing your stories, engaging your neighbors, and speaking up with conviction and compassion, you helped elevate an important conversation about antisemitism, inclusion, and our shared future.
Today, we look ahead. While we continue to believe that Question 7 was a divisive measure that may have adverse consequences for both the Jewish community and the City's finances, our focus remains on bringing people together, strengthening understanding, confronting antisemitism, and working alongside partners across Rhode Island to build a state where every community can thrive.
We move forward with gratitude, resilience, and hope for what we can accomplish together.
