A message from Marisa Garber, Board Chair

Dear Friends,

I am delighted to share exciting news about the future of our Jewish community.

After an extensive national search, the Board of Directors has unanimously selected Steven A. Baker as the next President & CEO of the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island. Steven will join the Alliance on July 1.

Throughout the search process, we sought a leader who could build on the Alliance's strong foundation while helping us meet the opportunities and challenges ahead. We found that leader in Steven.

Steven brings nearly two decades of experience in Jewish communal leadership, philanthropy, and nonprofit management. Most recently, he served as Chief Philanthropy Officer for the Minneapolis Jewish Federation and Minnesota Jewish Community Foundation. His career has been defined by a deep commitment to Jewish life, a passion for building community, and a proven ability to strengthen organizations and inspire engagement.

What stood out most during the search process was Steven's genuine belief in the power of Jewish community. His values, vision, and collaborative leadership style align closely with the mission of the Alliance and the aspirations of our community.

Steven shares our commitment to fostering a vibrant, connected, inclusive, and secure Jewish Rhode Island. He understands the importance of caring for those in need, supporting Jewish education and engagement, strengthening our connection to Israel, and ensuring that Jewish life continues to thrive for generations to come.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to thank the search committee and those who contributed to this important process. We are especially grateful to Harris Chorney for his leadership as Interim CEO.

I hope you will join me in welcoming Steven to Rhode Island. We look forward to introducing him to the community soon and beginning this exciting new chapter together.

Warmly,
Marisa Garber
Board Chair
