Shabbat Shalom,
One of the greatest responsibilities we have as a Jewish community is to uplift one another. In moments of joy and in moments of struggle, Judaism teaches us that no person should ever feel alone. The strength of a community is measured not only by what it builds, but by how it lifts people up. From Pirkei Avot: “Do not separate yourself from the community.” Those words remind us that community is not simply about gathering together — it is about showing up for one another with compassion, dignity, and purpose.
At the Jewish Alliance, uplifting people is at the center of everything we do. We support seniors so they can age with dignity. We provide educational opportunities that inspire the next generation. We help families in times of financial hardship. We create spaces where children can learn, where friendships are formed, and where Jewish life can flourish proudly and openly.
This past month, many of you demonstrated what it truly means to uplift a community through your support of the “LIFT the J” campaign benefiting the Bonnie & Donald Dwares JCC. Thanks to your generosity, we raised more than $40,000 to help strengthen and sustain this vital hub of Jewish life. Every contribution — large and small — was an investment in our community and in the people who walk through the doors of the JCC every day seeking connection, wellness, learning, friendship, and belonging. We thank you for your support!
As we welcome Shabbat, may we each take time to consider how we can help lift someone up this week. Together, through kindness, generosity, and shared responsibility, we continue to build a community rooted in compassion, resilience, and hope.
Wishing you and your loved ones a peaceful and uplifting Shabbat, and to all mothers a joyous Mother’s Day.
Shabbat Shalom,
