At the Jewish Alliance, the work we do cuts across so many areas of Jewish life in the state, that sometimes we struggle to share all the great work happening. From running summer camp, to putting on great programs, to getting help for those in need and raising funds to support all our Jewish institutions, the Alliance’s reach is vast. Today, I’d like to share what we’ve been doing to combat antisemitism in our state. Work that sadly continues to become more relevant.
Last year the Alliance worked proactively to address antisemitism, presenting on modern-day antisemitism to community groups across the state. We educated hundreds of people in these gatherings about what modern-day antisemitism looks like, and what they can do about it. We also focused specifically on workplaces, delivering presentations to human resource professionals on how they can make sure that their Jewish employees are better supported in this moment, and how they can address antisemitism in their businesses.
Beyond presentations, the Alliance responds when acts of antisemitism take place. We provide support for the victims, coordinate with local law enforcement, and follow up to make sure that the incidents were addressed properly. We continue to build relationships with other communities, understanding that the best way to fight antisemitism long-term is to have allies standing beside us. And we work with those partners to advocate for passage of laws at the State House that will make the Jewish community and other communities safer.
As we start to think about the second half of 2025 and 2026, we plan to do this and more. The Alliance will be hosting its second anti-hate summit next spring so that state leaders, elected officials, business leaders, and law enforcement can come together to develop concrete ways we can fight antisemitism and all forms of hate. We are also in the process of creating a Parent Leadership Academy to arm Jewish parents with the tools they need to advocate for their children should antisemitic incidents occur. I will share more information about the group in an upcoming message.
All of this work is critical, and it only happens with your financial support. Thank you for continuing to make sure the Alliance has the resources to protect our community and fight for our community.
Until next time, I wish you a safe, peaceful, and joyous Shabbat.
Shabbat Shalom,
