Like many of you, we at the Jewish Alliance are deeply concerned about the policies related to splitting up families as they seek asylum in the United States. Although the administration signed a temporary Executive Order putting an end to this policy, it is unclear how such a change will be implemented and whether separated families will be reunited. This contradicts the Jewish values of respect and fair treatment for all human beings, and it is in opposition to the ethos of Torah and Jewish tradition.
The Jewish Alliance, in partnership with the Board of Rabbis of Greater Rhode Island and representatives from the interfaith community will hold a press conference in response to the Federal Government’s policy. Various interfaith leaders and local elected officials will convene to make statements on the issues facing these families.
