The Rhode Island Jewish community joins the global Jewish community in a state of mourning over the tragic deaths of Naftali Frenkel (16), Gilad Sha’ar (16), Eyal Yifrah (19).
Hours ago, Israeli media announced that the bodies of three kidnapped Israeli teens have been found in an open field north of Hebron. It is confirmed that they were murdered soon after their abduction on June 12.
“I have three sons a little older than Naftali, Gilad, and Eyal,” said Sharon Gaines, Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island Board Chair. “As a mother and as a Jew, I share the grief the families are facing. We prayed for these boys as if they were our own and we are mourning them the same way.”
“This was an appalling act of violence. I am filled with rage and saddened by this senseless tragedy,” added Jeffrey K. Savit, Jewish Alliance President and CEO. “Our collective prayers remain with the families and the people of Israel.”
