J-Space All Day is your solution to distance learning! Whether your child will participate in the full distance learning model or will be attending school in a hybrid format, the Jewish Alliance is here for you. We are committed to providing a safe, healthy, stable environment for your child throughout the day to both enrich and complement the remote school experience, all while maintaining the normalcy of being in a space with friends.
The following information will provide you with a glimpse into what J-Space All Day will look like.
Please note: certain details are subject to change depending on state regulations.
Our staff will oversee your child’s remote learning by assisting with logging in and out of school platforms, turning in assignments online, and periodically helping with schoolwork. Your child will also benefit from “brain breaks” and fun camp-style activities between or after their virtual classes and assignments. While our staff all have experience working with children, it is important to remember that our staff are not classroom teachers and are not a substitute for your child’s formal education. We are here to help and support with your child’s experience while also providing the social interactions they will miss from in-person schooling. COVID-19 policies and procedures will be in place to ensure the health and safety of all participants, including daily wellness checks, mask wearing, and increased cleaning and sanitizing of high touch surfaces.
J-Space All Day will begin on Monday, September 21, and will operate from 8:00am – 4:00pm, Monday – Friday. Parents can choose to sign up for 5 days, 3 days (M/W/F) or 2 days (T/Th). To start, parents must sign-up for a 4-week block. Preference will be given to families signing up for the full 5-day schedule.

Children participating in the full 5-day distance learning model will be grouped by grade range. Children attending school in person, mixed with distance learning days, will be grouped by school. Groups from different schools cannot co-mingle at any point throughout the day, per DHS. Be sure to share this information with the student-body at your child’s school to help ensure that we can create a school-specific group.
Children are responsible for bringing their own laptop/Chrome Book/iPad with a charger. They will also need headphones with a microphone. We will provide basic school supplies, and any specific supplies needed for weekly assignments must be sent in with your child. Children will also have to bring their own snacks and lunch.
Each school and teacher will have differing schedules. During “typical” school hours, students will participate in virtual classes or quiet individualized work including (but not limited to) learning tools, puzzles and reading. We recognize this looks different for children in grades K-2 than it does for grades 3-8 and will make adjustments as needed. In addition to virtual learning, we will take time for lunch, outside exercise, brain breaks, snack and more. We understand the need for balance and our schedules will reflect that. After 2:30pm, students will participate in activities that are more typical of our after school programming including inside/outside games, arts and crafts, science experiments, sports and movement, and more. Please note there is a possibility that we may not run J-Space Afterschool/J-Cation due to COVID-19 restrictions and the mixing of children from various schools.
