President & CEO Search

Summary
The Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island (the “Alliance”) seeks a President & CEO who is an energetic, visionary, and passionate leader; a professional who possesses excellent strategic and management skills with a proven track record in fundraising, relationship development, and community building. The President & CEO will build on the Alliance’s successes of the past with its dedicated traditional donors while enabling the Alliance to enter a new era by meeting, embracing and taking advantage of current and future opportunities. The President & CEO must be skilled at developing and leading a staff as well as a cadre of devoted volunteer leaders, effectively communicating a vision for the Alliance to the local Jewish community and community as a whole, and demonstrating a passion for and commitment to Jewish life, Jewish values, and Israel.

About the Alliance
In 2011, Rhode Island’s Jewish Federation, Jewish Community Center, and Bureau of Jewish Education integrated into the Alliance. By joining three communal organizations into one, including combining fund raising and program operations, the sum of the parts has strengthened the mission, quality of programs, and operational efficiency of the component agencies.

Today’s Alliance serves to enrich the quality of life for Jews in Rhode Island, in Israel and around the world. The Alliance meets this goal through philanthropy, planning, education and wellness opportunities, community relations, and volunteer recruitment and training. The Alliance brings together service agencies, synagogues, and organizations to address issues of common concern including the ‘Living on the Edge’ anti-poverty initiative. Together, the Alliance transforms Jewish tradition and values into action.

The Alliance’s Dwares Jewish Community Center (JCC) is nearing completion of a $7.5M renovation. Housed within the walls of the Alliance’s JCC, one can find programs such as the David C. Isenberg Early Childhood Center, the Summer J-Camp, the Eides Family J-Space after-school program, Kosher Senior Café, the community’s Israel Desk, and J-Fitness.

About Rhode Island’s Jewish Community
Rhode Island is home to approximately 18,500 Jews — about 1.75% of the state’s population.
It is a diverse Jewish community which is home to many synagogues and congregations including Touro Synagogue—America’s oldest synagogue founded in 1763. Along with its synagogues, the Jewish communal agencies in Rhode Island work well in partnership, and among them include Jewish Family Service, Jewish Seniors Agency, the Jewish Community Day School, Providence Hebrew Day School, two Hillels (one serving the University of Rhode Island and the other serving Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design), Camp JORI, and the Sandra Bornstein Holocaust Education Center.

About Rhode Island
Rhode Island was founded by Roger Williams in 1636 as a colony for those seeking religious and political freedom. It is home to several large cities, including Newport, which is famed for sailing and Gilded Age mansions, such as The Breakers. Providence, the state capital, is home to Brown University, Rhode Island School of Design, Roger Williams Park, Waterplace Park and Riverwalk, with the famed WaterFire art installation, and the newly constructed Rhode Island Holocaust Memorial. Known for sandy beaches and seaside colonial towns, Rhode Island is also home to renowned colleges and universities, as well as several major hospitals including Hasbro Children’s Hospital and The Miriam Hospital. And thanks in part to Johnson and Wales University, Rhode Island features an award-winning culinary scene.
