Endowments established decades ago are still sustaining the Jewish Federation Foundation and our community today. JFF has the expertise to help you design a planned gift that will help you sustain your philanthropic goals in perpetuity.
Types of Endowments
A gift to endowment ensures that your generosity and vision will have an impact that extends far beyond your lifetime. When considering a gift to endowment, one of your first decisions will be how you want your gift to be used. Options include:
A gift to JFF’s Unrestricted Endowment will support the full spectrum of initiatives and programs essential to the future of our Jewish community.
Create an endowment fund to perpetuate your Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island Annual Campaign gift. This is a wonderful way to sustain your lifelong investment in your community. Women may choose to endow their annual Lion of Judah gift with a Lion of Judah Endowment (LOJE).
JFF will work with you to craft a gift that will support a partner organization whose work you value or an area of particular interest to you, such as Jewish education, Jewish peoplehood, or caring for the most vulnerable.
Ways to Create an Endowment
There are a number of ways that you can create your legacy. Let the Jewish Federation Foundation help you choose the method best suited to you and your philanthropic goals.
You may fund your endowment through an outright gift or a multi-year gift intention. This will allow your endowment to begin supporting our community during your lifetime.
A bequest through your will, trust or retirement account is an easy way to create an endowment. We’ll work with you and your advisor to craft language that clearly reflects your intentions.

A Charitable Gift Annuity or a Charitable Remainder Trust can provide an immediate tax deduction and lifetime income. After the death of the last beneficiary, the remainder becomes part of an endowment fund to be used in accordance with your wishes.
You may purchase a life insurance policy, for which the Jewish Federation Foundation would serve as both owner and beneficiary. After your passing, JFF will redeem the policy and the proceeds will support JFF’s endowment.
You can have confidence in the Jewish Federation Foundation’s ability to ensure your commitment will sustain the Jewish community. For more than 65 years, our Jewish community has trusted JFF as its partner in philanthropy. Distributions from your endowment fund are used in strict accordance with your wishes. JFF stewards endowment funds in accordance with the highest ethical and professional standards.
